The Knocks and Astr Throw A Dance Party at the Echoplex

Last night was an all out party at the Echoplex, with The Knocks and Astr holding it down strong for NYC.

In case you haven’t been there, The Echoplex is a very intimate venue in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles. The crowd can push all the way up to the stage, and literally reach out and touch the artists they came there to see. And with this performance being the last show of the tour, there was plenty of energy and intimacy in the room. 

Astr opened up the night like they were shot out of a cannon, ready to get the holiday weekend started with a bang. They hit all the major tracks, and had the crowd eating out of the palms of their hands when they closed it down with Blue Hawaii and Operate. It was a perfect transition into The Knocks’ set, which was just as high energy and potent. 

The duo from NYC opened their performance with an ethereal drum cadence that lured the crowd in from every corner of the venue. Before anyone knew it, it was an all out dance party. You couldn’t help but get stuck in their entrancing grooves, especially with a pair of smoke show dancers on stage showing everyone how it was done. If you weren’t sure whether or not these guys knew how to throw a party, by the time they lit up the night Dancing with the DJ, it could not be denied. 

And who doesn’t love an encore involving every hot chick from the crowd up on stage shaking it like a salt shaker….no one…. no one doesn’t love that.
