Andy Murray’s premature exit from Wimbledon is being blamed upon an alleged argument between the tennis player and his girlfriend Kim Sears.
Murray, who was completely off his game during the match, was heard muttering “shut the f*** up” and “five minutes before the f***ing match” whilst on the Centre Court. After being defeated by his 11th seeded opponent Grigor Dimitrov, Murray immediately exited the All England Club alone, leading several newspapers to speculate that an argument with Sears could have been the reason why he appeared to be so unfocused.
Dimitrov commented upon his opponents inability to get his head in the game, saying: “As soon as we started to warm up, I sensed that his game was not at the highest level.”
In a column penned for the BBC, Murray addressed his loss, writing: “This year’s Wimbledon has shown me that I need to improve my game and work very hard in the coming months, both on and off the court, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
He continued: “Hopefully I will be back at Wimbledon next year after 12 months of hard work and be in a position to challenge for the title again. Centre Court is a special place and I truly believe I can have some more great moments out there.”
