E3 2014: GTA V’s PS4 Version Will Have “Something Very Special”

Planning on getting Grand Theft Auto V on PC or Xbox One? You might want to hold your horses.

Kotaku asked PlayStation’s John Koller about whether or not Sony has struck a deal with Rockstar for GTA V’s PS4 version, to which he responded:

I don’t think we announced anything publicly on that, but there will be.

He added:

GTA V and the GTA franchise is something that will be something very special on PlayStation.

Chances are it’ll be exclusive content, similar to what’s coming for Destiny, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and other future games. In the case of these titles, new missions, weapons, and more will be available only on the PS4 version.

Sony has invested heavily in securing exclusive content for upcoming games, something Microsoft has been doing in a much larger way for the past few years with third-party game purchases like Titanfall, and timed-exclusive games like Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

“Very special” are strong words, and GTA V is one of the biggest games of the past 10 years. Whatever it is, we should find out in a few weeks, and it could be a big deal.
