Once pitted as the man who could ensure Manchester United wouldn’t suffer after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, the past year or so hasn’t been kind to the former manager.
After being ousted from his spot at the club following an extraordinarily poor season for United, police are today investigating Moyes over his involvement in an assault in a Lancashire wine bar.
The reported attack, which took place on Wednesday, May 21st, suggests that the 51-year-old assaulted a 23-year-old male.
The Lancashire police released a statement regarding the alleged incident, saying: “Police are investigating a report of an assault at the Emporium wine bar in Clitheroe. Officers attended the bar at about 10pm on Wednesday and it was reported that a 23-year-old local man had been assaulted by a 51-year-old man. He did not require hospital treatment.
“Inquiries are ongoing and we are speaking to a number of people to try to establish the circumstances. There are a number of differing accounts which we need to work through to try to establish exactly what has happened. No-one has been arrested at this stage.”
That’s not the only news story centred around Moyes today, though. The former Man United manager has also been linked with the manager’s job at Celtic, after Neil Lennon announced he would be leaving his post at the club. Could Moyes be making a return to the Premier League the season after his ill-fated run with United?
