Arctic Monkeys Hit Back at The Orwells: “They Should’ve Been Getting Laid Instead of Watching Us”

The Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner has responded to The Orwells’ criticism of the band’s live performances.

The Orwells, who supported the Sheffield band during their US tour, claimed that the Monkeys’ live performances were “too synchronised”, saying: “It was the exact same ad-libs he [Alex Turner] was putting between the songs. So we were with them for about 50 dates, you saw them once and you’d pretty much seen every date that they’d played.”

Speaking to news.au, Turner said that he felt The Orwells’ criticism wasn’t fair, saying: “They should have been out trying to get laid instead of watching us every night.

“I don’t think that’s fair [to call it synchronised]. There comes a time on a tour when something works and you tend to leave it alone. We have been changing it around a little bit.”

He continued: “You can’t mess around with it too much. It’s almost like the show isn’t designed to be watched by the same person every night. Nowadays people share the setlists, but I’m by no means fucking phoning it in. It’s not like we have [pre-recorded] tracks, we’re up there fucking doing it.”

Arctic Monkeys will be headlining the Main Stage at the Reading & Leeds festival this year, along with headlining T in the Park in Scotland.
