Tottenham has apologised after “trolling” Premier League rivals Liverpool on Twitter.
Spurs posted a Vine video last night of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez crying after the Merseyside club’s emotional 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, a match which saw Liverpool’s title hopes slip further from out of their fingers as Chelsea now sit one spot below them in the league table with a game in hand. The Vine was accompanied by the message “brutal but very funny”.
In a series of tweets following the posting of the Vine video, Tottenham said that their Vine account was hacked and that the mocking message was “not tweeted by anyone affiliated to THFC”.
The club tweeted the following messages: “We are currently looking into a security issue where our official Vine account has been compromised.
“We apologise to anyone offended by a recent tweet, which was immediately deleted. This post was not tweeted by anyone affiliated to THFC.”
Tottenham, or rather the alleged hacker, tweeted the message after Liverpool went from 3-0 up to finishing the match with a 3-3 draw, and was also followed by the message: “The biggest capitulation since Newcastle in the 90s.”
