Austin’s rippin’ guitar & drum duo Black Pistol Fire are back with a new video for “Alabama Cold Cock,” off their newly released third album Hush Or Howl, released on Modern Outsider Records.
Hush Or Howl’s eleven song offering has one foot firmly entrenched in the raw delta blues and rustic folk, with the other kicking up a storm of electrified Americana. Toronto transplants Kevin McKeown (guitar/vocals) and Eric Owen (drums) flex their evolution on the new record, from raucous gut-puncher “Hipster Shakes” to the banjo-picked and washboard percussive stomp of “Your Turn To Cry”. Kneejerk comparison references to the Black Keys or White Stripes are understandable, albeit a disservice to the musical versatility and angular punch of the duo. Dig deeper into these cats – you’ll thank us later.
