Sir David Attenborough is working on a nature documentary for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.
The hardware, which is making waves in the gaming industry, will be implemented in the documentary to allow viewers 360 degree views of Borneo, the documentary’s setting. The documentary will be called Conquest of the Skies, and will be filmed by production company Atlantic Productions.
Speaking of the upcoming documentary, Atlantic Productions’ creative director John Morris said: “We’re now filming for the Oculus Rift, so when we filmed our recent flight in Borneo, we filmed with an eight-camera rig, so you got the full 360° experience.”
Attenborough is best known for his work on the documentary series Planet Earth, Blue Planet and Life, along with other series produced by the BBC. No release date has yet been given for Conquest of the Skies.
