A 24-year-old British man has died at Snowbombing 2014, only 10 minutes after arriving at the Austrian festival.
Spencer Chatwin, from West Bromwich, collapsed shortly after arriving at the festival after complaining of chest pains during the 24-hour coach journey there.
Chatwin’s friend John Wood, also 24, said: “Spencer had been complaining of chest pains for five hours. He is a fit lad and we thought it must be severe heartburn. He collapsed ten minutes after getting off the coach. We are all devastated.”
Another friend, Lance Williams, 25, added: “We are all huge Baggies fans and go to the games together. We have known each other since school and socialise together. Spencer was the nicest guy you could ever wish to meet. This has been a massive shock and we are all struggling to come to terms with it.”
The cause of Chatwin’s death is unknown at this point in time, with his body being held in Austria in order for a postmortem to be carried out. The British Embassy informed Mr. Chatwin’s parent of the tragic incident.
