With a fantastic new album at the ready, New York’s pop-rock champions and Crave Band of The Month Semi Precious Weapons are on a sharp upward trajectory to stardom. Their hotly anticipated new album Aviation is set to be released on April 22 through RedZone Records, and is already being met with critical acclaim.
SPW not only turned out a festival-highlight performance during SXSW at Crave’s hugely successful Music Showcase, but also delivered an unforgettable studio session for their featured BOTM run.
Straddling the worlds of glam and passionate rock with sequined sass, the band – singer Justin Tranter, bassist Cole Whittle, drummer Dan Crean and guitarist Stevy Pyne – teamed with Grammy award-winning, multi-platinum, mega-hit maker “Tricky” Stewart (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Frank Ocean) for Aviation. The album seamlessly blends the band’s dance rock sound with Tricky’s powerful pop-edged production, in an evolution of sound that fans and radio have responded to with fevered excitement.

Semi Precious Weapons formed in 2006 and released their debut album We Love You in 2008. Graduates of the Berklee College of Music, the band immediately began drawing attention for their raucously tight and famously over-the-top live shows. Garnering a cult-like fan base and hefty critical acclaim, as well as a host of celebrity followers and industry insiders along the way, the band built on their momentum with a second full length, 2010’s You Love You. The release was met with high acclaim, as well as performing for millions of people across world supporting Lady Gaga on her “The Monster Ball” tour, as well as Ke$ha’s summer “Warrior Tour” before headlining their own “Dirty Showbiz Tour” and performing at festivals from Lollapalooza to the Isle of Wight.
