Lewis Hamilton on Michael Schumacher Coma: “Everything Happens for a Reason”

Sportsmen shouldn’t talk to the media unless their PR team has told them exactly what to say beforehand, because if they do, they might end up saying something along the lines of Lewis Hamilton’s opinion on Michael Schumacher’s skiing accident, the coma he is now in and how this tragedy somehow happened “for a reason”.

I do not doubt that the Mercedes F1 driver’s heart was in the right place when he made some spiritual musings regarding the comatose Schumacher, but my word, man, think about what you’re saying before you say it.

The British racer said: “He’s a legend in the sport, you know, who has achieved so much, a very motivated individual. So I feel like all things happen for a reason, I think that this is an experience that will really show his character and depth and even more so than any other experiences he’s had.”

That “experience” is him being in a coma, lest we forget.

Schumacher’s agent said earlier this week that the German F1 racer was showing “small, encouraging signs” and that his family are confident that the 45-year-old will “pull through and will wake up”.
