It’s a well-known fact that Microsoft’s consoles don’t sell too well in Japan, but this latest report is a little shocking to say the least.
According to Eurogamer, the Wii U sales in the region have now overtaken the Xbox 360’s lifetime total, with Nintendo’s console shifting 1,643,095 units to date in comparison with the Xbox 360’s 1,641,528.
Sony is still the frontrunner in Japan, though, having sold a whopping 9.8 million PS3s and 2.5 million PS Vitas. The PS4 is also performing well in the region, having shifted 309,154 units since launch. Prior to the console’s launch in Japan, Sony announced that the PS4 had exceeded the company’s sales expectations, after it was revealed that 5.3 million units of the new console had been sold worldwide.
