Watch: John Butler Trio On Conan O’Brien

The John Butler Trio took their roots-rock sound on Conan O’Brien this week, the latest step in the band’s breakthrough into the US market.

The new look band, now featuring Grant Gerathy on drums and Byron Luiters on bass, performed ‘Only One’ on Conan’s late-night show earlier this week after recently cracking the US Top 30 charts.

A notably more pop-ier sounding single ‘Only One’ was voted by Australian audiences as the #87 track of the past year in January’s Triple J Hottest 100 while the album, Flesh & Blood, was beaten out of the top spot on the ARIA Album Chart in its first two weeks by the INXS revamp courtesy of the television mini-series.

But overseas is where John Butler Trio are making a real breakthrough. Ten years after releasing his first album, JB is making some real inroads into the US market.

Along with the success of ‘Only One’, Flesh & Blood debuted at #58 on the US charts while clocking in at 29 and 32 in France and New Zealand respectively.

John Butler Trip are about to embark on a considerable Australian tour before launching an extensive trip around the UK, Europe, the US and then back to Europe between April and July. The band is also one of the few Aussie acts performing at Bonnaroo alongside Vance Joy and Nick Cave.
