Master Chief’s voice actor Steve Downes has unwittingly outed the rumoured Halo 2 Anniversary, along with saying that he believes Halo 5 will be coming in 2015.
Speaking to GameZone, Downes said: “I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5. I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.”
Microsoft has previously released a statement saying that our “Halo journey would begin this year”, though we were uncertain as to whether or not this was in regards to a Halo 2 HD remake or the upcoming Halo 5. If Downes is to be believed, which he certainly should be, then it looks like we’ll be getting Halo 2 Anniversary in the year of the original games’ 10-year anniversary.
It hasn’t yet been revealed who will be developing the game, as 343 Industries are likely far too busy with the development of Halo 5 to split their efforts into working on the Halo 2 update alongside their next iteration in the series. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary saw 343 Industries splitting development on the game’s campaign with Saber Interactive, while the game’s multiplayer component was handled by Certain Affinity. We’ll have to wait and see whether or not these developers are brought back into the fold for Halo 2 Anniversary.
