CraveOnline is proud to present the world premiere of Hellbenders’ new video for “Hurricane,” a blazing fury of riffs and roaring desert-rock aggression off the Brazilian quartet’s debut album Brand New Fear.
Influenced by gritty heist noir cinema, the video depicts alternating shots of a dark scene of kidnapping and murder (as well as one seriously sick car) with the band performing in an abandoned warehouse. Hailing from the heart of the Brazilian state Goiás, Hellbenders was formed by four childhood friends in 2007 while still in their teens. Cutting their teeth by playing classic American Southern rock and old-school metal covers, the four quickly gained confidence in composing their own brand of high-volume rock. “The way we describe ourselves to people is that we’re just four friends that want to taste a little bit of everything rock n’ roll has to offer,” explains guitarist Braz Torres.
Having shared stages with the likes of Kyuss Lives (now Vista Chino), Exodus, Nashville Pussy and Truckfighters, Hellbenders are now headed to the U.S., and are digging into the heart of the music world with an appearance at this year’s SXSW.
The group began work on its debut recording effort in 2011 with famed Brazilian producer Carlos Eduardo Miranda. As Torres shares “Miranda was our musical muse. He showed us how bands should act and work in a studio atmosphere, and introduced us to so many new sounds and artistic ideas that helped us further develop Brand New Fear, an album that encompasses everything we had been working towards creating.”
