Pharrell Joins Future Music Festival Lineup

The 2014 Future Music Festival added another international megastar act to its lineup on Thursday in the form of Pharrell Williams.

Pharrell’s late inclusion will see the 40-year-old rapper-slash-singer-slash-producer join the Future’s A-grade roster along with Deadmau5, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Phoenix in one of Australia’s premier festivals, as well as play in two solo sideshows in mid-March.

Originally appearing alongside some of the other headline acts in a teaser poster leaked last September, Pharrell mysteriously wasn’t among the list of international and local acts heading the Future bill when the festival was announced.

“Australia is such a fun place for music – I’ve always had amazing experiences there,” the N.E.R.D frontman said in a statement.

“Looking forward to seeing all the fans come out for Future Music Festival – can’t wait to perform and show them my gratitude.”

Pharrell’s trip to Australia with Future isn’t a typical festival effort. He will only be playing at three of Future’s five Australian stops (Sydney on March 8, Melbourne on March 9 and Adelaide on the 10th). For those not interested in the dance and electronic-heavy Future lineup, you can catch Pharrell in show special solo sideshow performances in Brisbane (Wednesday, March 12 at Marquee, RNA Showgrounds) and Perth (Friday, March 14 at Challenge Stadium).

Future Music Festival kicks in Brisbane on March 1 and also features Hardwell, Knife Party, Eric Prydz, Rudimental, Tinie Tempah and Chase & Status among its massive lineup.
