TCA 2014: ABC Confirms ‘Agent Carter’ Rumors, Brings Jaimie Alexander To ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Marvel Studios’ TV shows were the talk of ABC’s executive session at the Television Critics Association press tour. To begin, ABC not only confirmed the earlier reports that “Reaper” creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas are onboard the rumored “Agent Carter” TV project, Hayley Atwell has also signed on to reprise her role as Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger and the Agent Carter one shot film.
 
The proposed “Agent Carter” TV series would follow Peggy’s life as a secret agent after World War II. Although “Agent Carter” does not currently have a pilot commitment, a script has been written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely; who previously wrote Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World and the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier
 
IGN managed to grab a few comments from Butters about the “Agent Carter” TV series. “We’d be coming on as showrunners and being a part of the series,” said Butters. “We’re very excited to be included in the Marvel family and to be a part of ABC Studios.”
 
Butters also acknowledged the appeal of Carter’s character and the period setting. “It’s one of the things that drew Michele and I to the project, because she’s such a strong, wonderful character if you’ve seen the one-shot and we’re just very happy to be involved.”
 
In other Marvel news, ABC’s President Paul Lee revealed that Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role as Lady Sif from the two Thor movies in an upcoming episode of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” that brings Sif to Earth on a special mission. Sif’s appearance will be in the 15th episode of the season. Lee also praised the remaining episodes of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.;” which will build to the reveal of The Clairvoyant as the main adversary for the first season.
