Watch: Jagwar Ma Cover Arctic Monkeys ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?’

Jagwar Ma wasted no time making waves after their recent trip to the US, covering Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?’ for the first Triple J ‘Like A Version’ of 2014.

The pysch-rock trio returned home to Australia ahead of the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, but found time to stop by Triple J studios to record their cover of the third released single from the Arctic Monkeys’ fifth studio album, AM.

Jagwar Ma became one of Australia’s biggest new acts in 2013, gaining a ton of attention for their debut release Howlin’.

The band recently discussed their difficulty finding time to record amidst a heavy touring schedule- which most recently included appearances at large number of high profile festivals in Australia, the UK and Europe- telling Billboard that they didn’t stop writing new material despite what was hectic end to 2013.

“We’re always writing,” frontman Gabriel Winterfield said. “I don’t think you stop doing those kinds of things – because you love it. Negotiating playing shows and making another record is going to be an interesting challenge.”

After releasing a cheeky teaser in early January, the result of the collaboration between rapper 360 and former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has arrived in the form of single ‘Impossible’.

The dubstep-infused track features the pair blowing up a heap of stuff in what is Johns’ first video since 2007.

“When we made that song I was at the peak of my loose partying days” 360 said of the single.

“I rocked up to the studio and I hadn’t slept for three days. I was disgusting and gross. I slept in the studio for a few hours and then we made the song. I was an absolute mess. So I decided to write about that. Things have changed I’m not partying now. I’m sober.”
