Lily Allen has released the audio for new track ‘Air Balloon’ on YouTube, accompanied by a message from the singer in which she brands the track “annoying”.
Referencing her chart-topping cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ for John Lewis’ Christmas commercial, Allen tweeted a link to the song alongside the message: “If you thought the Bear and Hare was annoying, you won’t want to watch this.” Listen to the track below.
Allen’s return to pop music after her “retirement” in 2010 has been controversial to say the least. Aside from her aforementioned Keane cover single, which Allen herself has admitted is “shrill”, she also received no small degree of criticism for her comeback track ‘Hard Out Here’, the video of which was branded racist. Allen also branded her fellow popstars “botoxed, celebrity idiots” in an interview late last year.
