Watch Flea Shred (and Screw Up) The Star Spangled Banner at UCLA Game

Flea gave UCLA fans at Thursday night’s game a surprise treat with a slaptastic rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. The Red Hot Chili Peppers/Atoms For Peace bassist kicked off the Bruins’ loss game against No. 1 Arizona, starting out simple before hitting a warp drive of badassery, in full Flea trademark style. But then he played the “rockets’ red glare” part twice, and sent a great thing into the blooper reel:

Unfortunately, Flea’s pep-jam wasn’t enough to inspire a win for UCLA. The Bruins lost to Arizona 79-75.

Flea previously played the national anthem on the horn at the 2008 NBA Finals as well.
