Andre Villas-Boas has been sacked from his post at Tottenham Hotspur following a devastating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.
Spurs confirmed the decision with the following tweet, posted to the club’s official Twitter account:

Chairman Daniel Levy felt that the £100 million investment he had allowed AVB to put into the transfer window earlier this season had not led to the results the club had wanted, with their humiliating loss to Liverpool being the final nail in the coffin for the manager.
An official club statement said that “the decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties”, though it’s unlikely that AVB would have wanted yet another brief stint as a manager of a top-flight Premier League team to add to his CV.
The bookies have already picked former England coach Fabio Capello as the favourite to take over the job.
