David Cameron Says… Err… Mumford & Sons’ ‘Babel’ is His Favourite Christmas Song

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has once again championed his love of faux-folk band Mumford & Sons, confusingly naming ‘Babel’ as his favourite Christmas song.

The Conversative PM, who once labeled The Smiths as his favourite band before both Morrissey and Johnny Marr said that he was “banned” from listening to them, responded to a question posed by The Spectator regarding his favourite festive tune, saying: “Although it’s been out all year I really love the Mumford & Sons’ ‘Babel’. It’s driving Samantha mad. You know what it’s like when you overplay something and it’s even beginning to annoy you, and it’s annoyed everyone else in the family.”

No ‘Fairytale of New York’, then, Dave? Perhaps a few of its insulting lyrics hit too close to home for him, as they’re bellowed at him by Britain’s working class as he unveils new benefit cuts whilst shilling the NHS to the highest bidder.

Cameron famously hand-picked Mumford & Sons as his guests for a performance at the White House. On the flipside, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke said that if Cameron ever used his music for a promotional campaign, he would “sue the living shit out of him”.
