Zlatan Ibrahimovic has seemingly mocked Cristiano Ronaldo’s rumoured “obsession” with taking home the Ballon D’Or this year, stating that losing out on the trophy will make no difference to him, as he is already “the best.”
“I don’t need the Ballon d’Or to know I’m the best,” the Swedish international said. “It matters more to some players.”
Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or just one before, in 2008, and there have been reports that he is desperate to win it again this year over the likes of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
Ibrahimovic came face-to-face with the Real Madrid striker recently in the second leg of Portugal and Sweden’s World Cup playoff, in which Ronaldo scored a stunning hat-trick, giving his country a 4-2 aggregate win.
