Zappos Brilliantly Trolls Kanye West With $100,000 ‘Sh*t Product’

That’s it, I’m buying all my shoes from Zappos from now on.

During a typically bloviating, self-serving interview on friend and frequent collaborator Bret Easton Ellis’ podcast last week, Kanye West revealed his distaste for online clothing and shoe retailer Zappos. The store, which offers a staggering variety of footwear options, is a leading outlet for online purchases.

“I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos.com that he’s trying to tell me what I need to focus on,” West told Ellis during the hourlong chat. “Meanwhile, he sells all this shit product to everybody, his whole thing is based off of selling shit product.”

Typically, a company would see an artist with the traction and influence on the level of Kanye’s and cower in fear, sending winged fleets of PR monkeys out in an urgent quest for damage control. Zappos, however, is the kind of company that remembers how important it is to leave enough room in one’s leather sweatpants for balls the size of grapefruits, and they responded in brilliantly cutting fashion.

Heeding Kanye’s words, the company listed a new item for sale shortly after West’s comments: the shit product plunger. “Interested in buying sh-t product? You’ve come to the right place!” the Sh-t Product page reads. “Here at Zappos.com, we happily sell sh-t products to everybody! This is the throne, everyone has been watching. Whether you’re #1 or #2, your clique will show no mercy, even in Paris.”

Your “giant arguments seem much smaller” on such a throne, and it’s being marketed as “the perfect gift for the man that has everything.”

The piece, fittingly, has an obnoxiously inflated pricetag ($100,000) – but shipping’s free. So there’s that.
