Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong has caused a stir this week, after claiming that he’d see more first-team action at the Emirates if he was “white and English.”
Speaking on Twitter, Frimpong was asked by a fan why he wasn’t in the squad for Arsenal’s Capital One Cup match against Chelsea on Tuesday night (October 29th), to which he responded: “LOL I wanna laugh. Sometimes I wish I was white and English #realtalk”.
The 21-year-old player then retracted his comments, deleting his tweets before adding that “Not every tweet is football related.”
He continued: “Look what ever you read tomorrow has majorly been twisted. Is a joke what people will do to start controversy goodnight people”.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has previously spoken about Frimpong’s lack of first-team football, saying that he wasn’t chosen for the squad that faced Chelsea because “he is still short of the competition.”
