8 Players Per Party Confirmed for PS4 Cross-Game Chat

Cross-game chat has remained a widely requested feature for the PS3. While the day that those requests will be fulfilled may never be seen, the PS4 is confirmed to have party chat at launch. The question is: how many players will party chat support?

In a comment response on the PS Blog, Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman confirmed that “Party Voice Chat will support up to 8 players on PS4, like PS Vita.” The Xbox 360 similarly supports 8 players per party.

Every PS4 will come bundled with in-ear headphones that have an in-line microphone. Sony hopes that this will encourage social interaction.

PlayStation’s long-run of social isolation will finally be brought to an end when the PS4 comes, and thank Sony for that. With powerful streaming features and a robust party chat, PS4 gamers will have plenty of ways to interact with their friends and strangers.
