Another day, another delay. Sony has now confirmed the rumour that PS4 launch title DriveClub will be delayed until “early 2014.”
“SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of DriveClub and DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014,” Sony worldwide studios boss Shuhei Yoshida explained. “DriveClub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision – and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.”
DriveClub was intended to be part of PS Plus’ Instant Game Collection on the PS4’s launch day, making it free to download for PS Plus subscribers. While that deal will still be applicable when DriveClub is eventually released, Sony is offering another free title, indie game Contrast, to PS Plus subscribers upon launch by way of apology.
This is the second next-gen video game delay this week, with Ubisoft announcing that Watch Dogs would also be pushed back to 2014.
