Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Prep for L.A.’s Big Top Festival

What’s the next move if you’re a touring band with a couple of radio hits…but dreams of something larger than life?

If you’re Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, you obviously stop touring immediately — and go big on your own idea.  For the hippie-rock troubadours, that means organizing the magical Big Top Festival in the famed Los Angeles State Historic Park this weekend.

Alex Ebert, Jade Castrinos and the guys (spoiler alert: there is no actual Edward Sharpe) will play host to the event Oct. 17-20 that not only includes nightly showcase performances by the band, but an eclectic mix of off-the-wall happenings that would put Ringling Brothers to shame.

In any given corner of the tent, visitors can shop a farmers market, down a brew in the beer garden or enjoy entertainment as diverse as vaudeville comedy, contortionists and interactive performance art.

As crews prepped for the festival, Crave was lucky enough to snag an invite to a private dinner with the band, followed by an impromptu soundcheck/performance under the Big Top.

Special thanks to our friends at Samsung Galaxy for producing the event and getting us in to the party.  You can check out a couple cool pictures from the night’s events below.
