We had the time of our lives out at Austin City Limits 2013, catching incredible performances from Atoms For Peace, Queens of The Stone Age, The Black Angels, Electric Six and many more, while reveling in the unbeatable food and local culture. An unexpected highlight of ACL arrived in the media area on Day One, when we sat down with the Mayor of Austin, Lee Leffingwell, to chat about the festival and where to find the best BBQ. A native to Austin, Lee shares his excitement for expanding Austin City Limits to two weekends, the city’s long history as the live music capital of the world, and his love for the almighty BBQ.
Mr. Leffingwell goes out of his way to maintain a diplomatic neutrality about his favorite BBQ spot in Austin, but assures us that “if you ask ten different people, you’ll probably get ten different opinions.” He’s right, though after belt-busting depths of research we’re going with Franklin BBQ.
