GTA Online ‘s launch has been a troubled one to say the least , but those who have managed to play it are in agreement that it’ll be worth the (hopefully short) wait required for Rockstar Games to iron out its problems.
So GTA Online is looking like it’ll be a great component of the popular GTA V , but how do you find success in a ruthless world filled with your fellow players running you over and cops gunning you down? Here are CraveOnline’s 5 essential tips and tricks for GTA Online .
Top 5 Tips for Succeeding in GTA Online
Don't use ATMs
ATMs are an avoidable danger zone. With many players attempting to deposit their money into their bank using them, you'll likely wind up six feet under if you pull over your flash sports car in front of one in order to ensure the safety of your hard-earned cash.
Fortunately, you can actually deposit your money into your bank using the in-game phone, by clicking on its web browser and opening the 'Money and Services' tab. Make sure you do this as soon as you earn any decent amount of money, as you'll lose dough every time you're killed in GTA Online .
Lock your car
Fed up of having players stealing your souped-up personal vehicle? Well, you'll be pleased to know there's an easy solution to your problem. Simply bring up the interaction menu and scroll down until you reach the option that allows you to control who has access to your car: everyone, your crew, your friends, you crew and friends or just you. Bear in mind that limiting access to just you will prevent your crew and friends from hopping in the vehicle as passengers, too.
Don't keep your gun holstered
Seeing the white dot representing another player speeding towards you on the mini-map is a tense experience, largely because most players will dispose of you on sight. This may change as more people settle into GTA Online and the initial thrill of wasting someone for no discernible reason wears off, but for the time being, make sure you kit yourself up at Ammu-Nation and keep your gun in your hand at all times.
Don't limit your Crew to just your friends
You can form a Crew at RockstarGames.com/SocialClub , and doing so will be essential to getting the most out of your GTA Online experience.
You can join multiple crews, so you shouldn't be picky about choosing which ones you're going to join. If you're creating a crew, you're better off having it as open invitation and inviting any and all players you encounter whilst playing. You can do this by opening the interaction menu in-game, scrolling to the Players menu and then selecting Invite to Crew.
Doing this will ensure that you always have people to play with no matter what time you hop online, and seeing as how GTA Online rewards players who take on missions with their Crew handsomely (there's a 50% reputation bonus for completing missions with others, along with a 10% cash bonus), you should make bulking up your crew a priority.
Get a free helicopter
You can find a few free helicopters on a heli-pad at the location marked on the image to the left. Helicopters are ideal for evading the cops, as they won't send out air support unless you reach a 3-star wanted level, meaning you can rob stores around the map before making a quick escape to earn some quick cash. Make sure you always have a friend guarding the chopper, though, as by flying around the map in one you'll make yourselves a prime target for other players.
