Band of The Month: The Wild Feathers Stir The Soul With ‘The Ceiling’ Exclusive Performance

We’re excited as hell for Crave’s Band of The Month featured artist in October, because it’s not often that a new piece of music will grab you by the soul. We’ve had an incredible streak of musical strength in our BOTM series thus far, taping unforgettable exclusive performances with Dessa, Everlast, Nico Vega and beyond. Today we continue the series with the first performance from October’s featured artist The Wild Feathers.

A patchwork of remarkable artists from Austin, Nashville and beyond, The Wild Feathers melds blues, folk, rock and country with a convertible cool and a captivating sense of soul that calls back to classic Skynyrd/CSNY flavors. This is no nostalgia act, however, as the four unique voices of Ricky Young, Joel King, Taylor Burns and Preston Wimberly create timeless melodies with a modern captivation through harmonies that set the soul ablaze.

For their eponymous 2013 debut, The Wild Feathers enlisted Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, the Wallflowers, Emmylou Harris) as producer, who pushed the band into an evolutionary excellence in his Nashville studio as they recorded the songs one at a time, mostly live to tape. Ranging from slow-burning heartcrushers to foot-stomping harmonic flurries of overwhelming depth, The Wild Feathers is as beautiful and promising as a debut album could hope to be. Listen to the entire album at Rolling Stone

CraveOnline met up with The Wild Feathers at Swing House studios in Hollywood for an exclusive Band of The Month session, recording a handful of tracks and an interview in which they shared the stories behind the songs. The first clip in the series features The Wild Feathers’ lead single “The Ceiling” – check out the exclusive performance below:

Currently on tour with ZZ Ward, The Wild Feathers will play both Sundays of Austin City Limits 2013 on the BMI Stage. We’ll be there with bells on (ok we’ll probably skip the bells) as we bring you wall to wall coverage of the fest.

Check back next Thursday for the next Wild Feathers performance on CraveOnstage. In the meantime, keep up with The Wild Feathers on Twitter, Facebook and their official site, where you can pick up this remarkable debut album.
