PAX Prime is just around the corner, and 2013 is set to be the biggest ever year for the Penny Arcade Expo. Tons of next-gen titles are going to be playable at the event, and while I'm looking forward to seeing all of them in action, the following 5 games are the ones that have got me excited the most.
5 Games We're Excited to See at PAX Prime 2013
Forza 5
A whole bunch of next-gen titles will be available to play at PAX, with Forza 5 for the Xbox One being chief among them for Microsoft. While I'm not the biggest car aficionado, I've always enjoyed the Forza series thoroughness when it comes to catering to those who actually care about engine sizes and the like. Forza 5 will inevitably be bigger, better and prettier, and I'm excited to see some more gameplay footage of it (and if Car Soccer makes its multiplayer return then my Xbox One preorder is all but confirmed).
The Crew
Not many people are talking about Ubisoft's The Crew , which is a crying shame because it's one of the more intriguing titles in the PlayStation 4's launch window line-up. The spiritual successor to the hugely underrated Driver: San Francisco , The Crew is a persistent online racer that will see you frequently encountering other players in the game's huge world map, who you can race against or form a crew with before completing race missions. Attendees at PAX will be able to have some hands-on time with the game, and I can't wait to see the footage that comes out of it.
Halo 5?
We haven't heard anything on the Halo 5 front since that little video clip we were shown at E3, but as Microsoft continues to desperately claw their way ahead of Sony, I wouldn't be surprised if PAX is host to a further look at 343 Industries' next outing with the Chief. Xbox's Major Nelson has said that there will be "surprises" at the Xbox booth , and while Halo 5 may be more of an inevitability than a surprise, if Microsoft reveals more of it prior to the Xbox One's release they could win over a few more gamers to their cause.
Dead Rising 3
Having never really been into the Dead Rising series, Dead Rising 3 has still got me excited. Microsoft has said that the game's PAX showing will highlight its customizable vehicles including the 'RollerHawg', a hybrid between a motorcycle and a steamroller. That's more than enough for me to want to see gameplay footage of it.
Ryse: Son of Rome
I could not have cared less about Ryse after seeing its QTE-heavy E3 unveiling, but the multiplayer Gladiator mode shown at Gamescom has now got me thinking that there may be more than first meets the eye to this hack 'n' slasher. Gladiator mode is going to be playable at PAX, so I'm intrigued to see whether or not the public indifference to this perceived God of War clone changes at all following its demo.
