Stone Temple Pilots are moving forward without former fronman Scott Weiland, as the band has announced plans to release an EP this fall with Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington handling vocal duties.
We first witnessed the remaining members of STP debuting Bennington as their new vocalist at this year’s KROQ Weenie Roast, where the Linkin Park singer did a handful of classic STP jams justice and debuted a brand new song alongside his new bandmates. Reinvigorated by the promise of a future with Bennington on vocals, the band are moving forward with the October 8th release of High Rise (via 13Star Records). The EP will feature five new songs, listed as ‘Stone Temple Pilots With Chester Bennington’.
Meanwhile, STP is suing Weiland, Weiland is counter-suing, and the entire thing is a mess. It’s a bit hard to even want to see Weiland at the helm again, knowing that there’s such strongly bad blood between him and the rest of the band after so many years of drug abuse, dysfunction and doubletalk.
