Gareth Bale is set to move to Real Madrid in a record-breaking £93million deal.
It was rumoured for months that the winger would be leaving Tottenham for the Bernabeu, but as Spurs continued to deny the reports it began to seem increasingly likely that Bale would stay in the Premier League. However, today (August 23rd) Bale’s image was removed from the Tottenham website, while a shirt baring the player’s name on the back became available to purchase on the official Real Madrid website, all but confirming his imminent departure.
Madrid are reportedly set to fork out £93million for the Welsh star .This makes Bale the most expensive transfer in football history, beating the £80million fee Madrid paid to Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. Speaking of Ronaldo, now that Madrid have all but confirmed the signing of Bale, rumours are again circulating that he could make a return to Manchester for £77million, as manager David Moyes is keen to lure the Portuguese star back to his former club.
It is looking likely that Bale’s move to Real Madrid will be officially announced in a presentation at the Bernabeu tomorrow.
