Aaron Greenberg Laughs at Rumor that Xbox One is Delayed to 2014 [UPDATE]

Update: The Xbox One has been delayed until 2014 in eight European countries including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland. It will still release this November in North America.

Original Story: Gamereactor.eu claims that it spoke with Microsoft and found out that Xbox One has been delayed to Q1 2014. Now that Microsoft has responded, it appears Gamereactor was playing a cruel joke on Xbox fans.

Chief of Staff for Devices and Studios Group at Microsoft—what a title— Aaron Greenberg addressed the rumor after it was brought to his attention. He said on Twitter:

Ha, don’t believe everything you read! We will share more details at Gamescom.

After all the turmoil of the past few months I’m sure Microsoft would like to delay the Xbox One, but that option is really out of the question. Such a move would give Sony even more of an advantage, one that Microsoft can’t afford.

That said, backtracking on all the system’s DRM and Kinect-mandatory integrations is no easy task for engineers. If they simply can’t get it done in time then Microsoft will be left with no choice. It can’t release an incomplete product, after all. However, given Greenburg’s response it appears the system is still on-track for a Holiday 2013 release.

Stay tuned for our Gamescom 2013 coverage when Microsoft reveals the Xbox One’s release date once and for all.
