The Evil Within, the upcoming survival horror game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, has had a snippet of gameplay footage leaked, and for those who have been longing for the gameplay of Resident Evil 4 to make its way into the original Resident Evil‘s creepy mansion setting, it seems your prayers have been answered.
The footage shows protagonist Detective Sebastian Castellanos (not quite as easy on the tongue as Chris Redfield, is it?) fending off the game’s monstrous enemies in dimly lit corridors. It also shows what happens when you get on the wrong end of a particularly large, chainsaw-wielding opponent. The result is predictably brutal.
The Evil Within is to be released next year on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC. Watch the footage below.
