Xbox One might have received a lashing for Microsoft’s original vision, but ever since the change of policy it’s been mounting a comeback. Now it has yet another developer looking to support the system.
Digital Extremes’ vice president of publishing, Meridith Braun, shared with OXM that the studio is excited about the Xbox One and wants to bring Warframe to the console. She said:
We’re happy to see Microsoft shift its attitude on independent development for their new system. We’d be silly not to consider Warframe for Xbox One now. The system itself will be awesome and now the landscape of games that it supports has just become limitless. Exciting times.
Warframe is a free-to-play shooter that released several months ago for PC. Sony has already allured the developer to its PS4 further bolstering its library.
Braun expressed that the studio wants to bring a port of Warframe to Xbox One, but hasn’t been able to strike a deal with Microsoft. As repeatedly seen in the past, Microsoft doesn’t make it easy for many developers due to its rigorous publishing process. This time around it could keep more than just an indie game at bay.
