Nintendo CEO Wants to Debut Zelda Wii U As Soon As Possible

Consumers aren’t the only ones antsy about The Legend of Zelda for Wii U.

Speaking to Guardian, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata shared his excitement to show the next Zelda. He said:

It is true that Mr Aonuma’s team has been working on a new Zelda title for the Wii U. But the only announcement we have at this time of software which will soon become available is WindWaker HD. But they are actually working on an exclusive new Wii U title in the Zelda franchise and I hope in the not-too-distant future, we will be able to make the relevant announcement.

So far all that’s been seen is a tech demo of Zelda in HD that was used to promote the Wii U’s hardware. It was only three minutes long and showed a battle between Link and a large Skulltula. The graphics were impressive, especially when compared to prior Zelda releases, and have made the wait even more unbearable.

For now, consumers will have to settle with the HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker this October, which isn’t such a bad deal.
