Grand Theft Auto V‘s trailer is one of the best I’ve ever seen. I don’t appear to be alone as legendary developer Hideo Kojima’s latest comments make him sound overwhelmed by the package that Rockstar has put together.
Hideo Kojima took to Twitter after seeing the GTAV trailer for his first time and posted the following:
“GTA V” new trailer was awesome! This free control is future of the game, way higher than anywhere, makes me depress as matter fact.
He continued:
I don’t think our “V” can reach that level. Rockstar’s team are the best. W/o question they will pull up the possibility of game.
Metal Gear Solid V will be the first in the long-running series to venture into open-world gameplay. It’s a bold move, but one that the series has been aching for. Hideo Kojima likely feels out of his element and it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s facing tremendous challenge with making such a concept work. Meanwhile, Rockstar is repeating what it has done for over a decade: making a sandbox game.
Make no mistake, MGSV was one of the best-looking games at E3, but this is GTAV we’re talking about. It sells so well that it gives a new meaning to the term commercially successful. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be the better game. Flashier and appealing to more demographics? Maybe. I’ll take Big Boss any day of the week, though.
