As reported by AllThingsD, Microsoft is set to reveal drastic restructure this Thursday. Steve Ballmer is reportedly going to take the stage and make a variety of announcements, some of which will directly impact the Xbox brand.
The departure of former Xbox president Don Mattrick has left Xbox without a leader. Executives of Xbox have since had to report to CEO Steve Ballmer. A new face for the division is expected to be shown on Thursday. Some have also speculated that Xbox will become an umbrella of multimedia-related devices and software. If true, Xbox will no longer be identified as gaming-centric.
The early hiccups of the Xbox One have left Microsoft with a tough hill to climb, and new leadership would be a good start toward creating a better image for the company. Now’s the time to do it, too. The next-generation of consoles are quickly approaching and once the games begin making up ground won’t be a simple task.
