Top 10 “Republic of Doyle” Guest Stars

Gene Simmons of KISS fame and his Playmate girlfriend/wife/partner/whatever Shannon Tweed visited her hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland recently, and during her trip she shot a cameo appearance for an upcoming episode of the popular home-grown drama “Republic of Doyle.” She joins a long list of actors, musicians and Canadian television personalities who have guest-starred on the program – in fact, rumours are swirling that Russell Crowe may even appear on the show while he’s visiting the province to shoot a movie in the coming weeks.

Here’s a top 10 “Republic of Doyle” guest stars.

 

Shannon Tweed

“Playboy” Playmate of the Month in November 1981 and Playmate of the Year for 1982, Shannon Tweed is currently a part of the hit show “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” which profiles the lives of Tweed, her long-time partner Gene, and their two kids Sophie and Nick.

 

Alan Doyle

Lead singer of the band Great Big Sea, Alan Doyle has appeared on “Republic of Doyle” a number of times and will be back in the upcoming season.

 

Gordon Pinsent

A regular on shows like “Babar and the Adventures of Badou” and “The Pillars of the Earth,” this Newfoundland and Labrador actor has made two appearances on “Republic Doyle.”

 

Shaun Majumder

One of the country’s funniest men, comedian Shaun Majumder has won a number of Gemini Awards and played Benny Natchie in last season’s “Fathers and Sons” episode.

 

Seamus O’Regan

A host on “Canada AM” O’Regan made a cameo in season one as “Paddy the Bartender” – surprisingly, though, no acting awards followed.

 

Don McKellar

With more than 18 award wins under his belt and 23 nominations, McKellar starred in TV’s “Odd Job Jack” and the big screen’s “Trigger” in 2010 as well as acted in an episode of “Republic of Doyle”  this year.

 

Cathy Jones

Actor and writer Jones has worked on projects like “SCTV” and “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” along with “Republic of Doyle” on numerous occasions.

 

Mark Critch

A four-time Gemini Award nominated actor, Critch has been a writer for several hit shows like “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” – he played Ned Bishop of “Republic of Doyle” last year.

 

Scott Grimes

A Massachusetts native, Grimes’ more impressive resume entries include his role on “ER” as Dr. Archie Morris for a number of years as well as doing voice-work for “American Dad!” Allan Hawco, co-creator, co-producer and co-writer of “Republic of Doyle,” recently told St. John’s Telegram that he’ll be a guest star on a future episode.

 

Kevin Durand

Also recently confirmed by Hawco to appear in the newest season, Durand is best-known for his regular role on “Lost” and the recent big-screen release “I Am Number Four.”
