The Apple TV+ limited drama series Lucky has added Drew Starkey to an impressive cast that also includes Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Annette Bening (Apples Never Fall), Timothy Olyphant (Justified: City Primeval), and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (The Deliverance). Starkey will portray Cary, the husband of Taylor-Joy’s series protagonist. Taylor-Joy and co-showrunners Tropper and Cassie Pappas (Silo) will executive produce as well (via Deadline).

According to the log line, the plot revolves around a young woman (Taylor-Joy), who quit her life of crime but must face demons from her past for one final time.

Lucky is the latest project on which Apple TV+ and Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine have collaborated after The Morning Show and Surface. “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Apple TV+ and the incomparable Anya Taylor-Joy, plus our brilliant creator Jonathan Tropper and his wonderful co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to bring this compelling series — based on Marissa Stapley’s fantastic novel — to audiences around the world,” Witherspoon said in 2024 (via Apple TV+ Press).

Aside from Outer Banks and Queer, Starkey has appeared in Love, Simon; The Hate U Give; The Devil All the Time; Scream: Resurrection; and The Terminal List. The 31-year-old actor received widespread critical acclaim for his performance in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer. Starkey’s Cary will be a major recurring character in Lucky.
