While Captain America: Brave New World is currently testing its fate at the box office, rumors regarding the potential return of Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk in Thunderbolts* and Avengers: Doomsday have already started to circulate. The character recently made its MCU debut in Captain America 4, which pits the rage-fueled monster against Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Ford initially took over the role of General Thunderbolt Ross, who serves as the human form of Red Hulk, following the tragic passing of William Hurt. From the looks of it, Red Hulk could make a swift comeback to the Marvel setup in their upcoming live-action projects.
Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk could return in Thunderbolts* or Avengers: Doomsday
According to a popular industry scooper, Harrison Ford has already agreed to reprise his role of Red Hulk in an upcoming undisclosed MCU film.
In his latest X (formerly Twitter) update, @MyTimeToShineHello stated, “Harrison Ford already signed to reprise role as Ross/Red Hulk in an upcoming project!” Nevertheless, he failed to specify which movie fans would be able to witness the raging character again.
Taking the events of Captain America 4 into consideration, MCU theorists have speculated that Red Hulk could play a part in the forthcoming Thunderbolts* or even Avengers: Doomsday. While Kevin Feige had previously relayed that Harrison Ford’s General Ross, who once served as the leader of the antihero squad in the comics, would not be making an appearance in Thunderbolts*, the character might just make a cameo in his Red Hulk form.
Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday will showcase the team-up of several leading MCU stars for the first time since 2019’s Endgame. As such, there is a high possibility that the much-awaited Avengers 5 could feature the Hulk counterpart in some capacity. Aside from that, there are also rumors of Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk duking it out with Bruce Banner in a proposed World War Hulk project.
While the prospect of seeing the veteran actor stretch his CGI muscles as the Red Hulk once again is an enticing one, Marvel Studios has yet to share any official word regarding his return. Provided that there is some merit in the rumor, more updates should follow in the coming days.
