Ever since MCU’s Moon Knight concluded on Disney+ on May 4, 2022, there have been some chatters about a potential Season 2, but Marvel didn’t officially confirm anything. However, according to the industry scoopers, the studio might already have exciting plans for the sophomore season. They also claim that a notorious Moon Knight villain could debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.
Moon Knight Season 2 finally gets a story update with new rumor
A popular industry scooper addressed what might be in store for Moon Knight in the MCU during a Q&A session. One reader asked if the second season was in limbo because of the multiversal storyline or if the studio was waiting for the rumored Midnight Sons project.
Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus cryptically responded, “Look up Memento, American Horror Story: Hotel, and “Ei8ht” from Treehouse of Horror XXXIV. You have the main ideas for Moon Knight season 2.”
When another reader asked about Raoul Bushman, Marc Spector’s (Oscar Isaac) former mercenary partner, Perez claimed that there were plans to introduce the character in the MCU. Bushman didn’t appear in the inaugural season of Moon Knight. However, he was mentioned in two separate episodes: “The Tomb” (Episode 4) and “Asylum” (Episode 5).
Notably, Memento (2000) is the second feature-length directorial venture from Christopher Nolan. Based on Jonathan Nolan’s short story Memento Mori, the neo-noir follows a man trying to find his wife’s killer while dealing with anterograde amnesia. Moreover, American Horror Story: Hotel is the fifth season of the FX horror anthology series. The plot revolves around the staff of Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles as they witness unsettling and supernatural events unfold around them.
Meanwhile, Treehouse of Horror XXXIV is the title of Episode 5 of The Simpsons Season 35. “Ei8ht” is the name of one of three segments of the said episode. A parody of Netflix’s Mindhunter, Ei8ht follows Lisa as she tries to solve a gruesome series of murders. It is later revealed that she suffers from a split personality disorder. The segment’s title and the split personality aspects are references to works by David Fincher. He served as executive producer on Mindhunter.
