Marvel‘s Armor Wars starring Don Cheadle might have been canceled by the studios, according to the latest rumor. Armor Wars was initially announced as a full-fledged series by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige at Disney Investors Day in December 2020. However, since then, the project has undergone many changes and was reportedly turned into a movie.
New rumor suggests Don Cheadle’s Armor Wars isn’t delayed, but canceled
Industry scooper My Time To Shine Hello (MTTSH) has made a claim recently that Armor Wars has been canceled by Marvel Studios. The scooper commented on a GIF post of Don Cheadle from Avengers: Endgame on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Wish his movie wasn’t canceled.”
The cancelation claim wasn’t just made by MTTSH, but a source close to ComicBookMovie.com also told the outlet that the Cheadle flick was “as good as dead.” However, Marvel has not made any official comments regarding the rumored cancelation.
Recently, popular Hollywood scooper Daniel Richtman also released an update regarding the project. In the update posted on his Patreon, Richtman claimed that the movie “is on hold, not canceled.”
According to Richtman, his sources stated Marvel is “reworking it after the backlash from Secret Invasion.” He continued, “And at this point, it’s looking like it’ll only happen post-Secret Wars. It’s also expected to focus on entirely different things than originally planned.”
Armor Wars was reported to follow the storyline directly from the comic books, where Iron Man’s high-tech suits come under the possession of the wrong people. However, there has been no recent update regarding the movie’s production from the studios.
In an October 2024 interview with TVLine, Cheadle was asked about updates on Armor Wars after it was reportedly turned into a movie. The actor said, “I don’t know, I’m not sure where anything is right now. I think things are going through a lot of changes, and we’ll see what happens, we’ll see what it is.”
