Rumor: Marvel’s X-Men Reboot Eyeing Jack Champion for Cyclops

The hype around the untitled MCU X-Men movie continues to build as recent rumors from the industry suggest that Avatar 2 star Jack Champion is in consideration to portray Scott Summers / Cyclops in the project. Notably, big-screen iterations of the character were portrayed by James Marsden, Tim Pocock, and Tye Sheridan in different 20th Century Fox X-Men movies.

Marvel’s X-Men reboot could cast Scream 6’s Jack Champion as Cyclops

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), industry scooper @MyTimeToShineHello has mentioned that Jack Champion is being eyed to play Scott Summers / Cyclops in the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of X-Men.

“Jack Champion (Avatar, Scream 6) is being considered for the role of Cyclops in the X-Men reboot,” the scooper wrote. Champion is best known for portraying Miles “Spider” Socorro in Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Ethan Landry in Scream VI (2023). He has also appeared in projects like American Genius (2015), The Night Sitter (2018), and Retribution (2023).

Interestingly, if he does get cast in the role, it will not be the first time he will appear in an MCU project. Previously, he played a minor role in Avengers: Endgame (2019).

These speculations about Champion add to the ever-growing rumors about the movie’s cast. Previously, scoopers reportedly claimed that Marvel was considering Sadie Sink for Jean Grey. More recently, an industry insider reportedly cited a casting grid to claim that Gambit and Kitty Pryde would be part of Marvel’s X-Men reboot. As it was a casting grid, these actors may be new additions to the franchise.

The rumors about Champion are in line with our theory that Marvel is looking to cast a young group of actors for its X-Men project.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige had previously announced that the mutants, including the X-Men, would eventually appear in the MCU. In May 2024, Deadline reported that Marvel was in negotiations with Michael Lesslie (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) to write the script for the project.
