A recent rumor circulating on the internet suggests that Marvel Studios could be looking at The Bear fame Ayo Edebiri to portray Storm in its X-Men reboot. This comes after she was replaced in the upcoming Thunderbolts*. The MCU is gradually introducing mutants to the setup, with 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine paving the way. While Hugh Jackman continues to extend his iconic reign as the Wolverine, Marvel will most likely recast most of the remaining characters from the now-defunct X-Men franchise. From the looks of it, Edebiri is currently in the running to take over the role of Storm.
Marvel’s X-Men reboot rumored to be looking at Ayo Edebiri for Storm
According to MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel Studios is looking at the Golden Globe Award winner to portray Ororo Munroe in its cinematic universe. The renowned internet scooper also conveyed that Marvel is considering adding Ayo Edebiri to the X-Men reboot due to her exit from Thunderbolts* last year.
In the latest X(formerly Twitter) post, MyTimeToShineHello stated, “Now that she’s no longer in Thunderbolts, Ayo Edebiri is being considered for the role of Storm in the X-Men reboot.” Despite the promising update, Marvel executives have yet to share an official word on the same.
Nevertheless, the mutant angle seems to be progressing well in the current dynamics of the MCU. In an earlier interview, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that fans can expect some recognizable X-Men characters in the upcoming MCU projects. “Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men,” he added.
Before her links with the X-Men reboot, Ayo Edebiri was attached to the upcoming Thunderbolts* film in an undisclosed role. However, the accredited actress had to drop out of the project, leading Geraldine Viswanathan to replace her.
At the time of writing, there are no updates regarding the X-Men reboot’s cast, filming schedule, or release date.
