Netflix recently announced price increases for subscriptions to the streaming service in 2025. This move has led to outrage from many subscribers. The new price plans were announced after the streaming giant reported that it had gained approximately 19 million subscribers by the end of 2024. Here is what some subscribers are saying about the change in prices.
Netflix users say they will end subscriptions after 2025 price hike
Many Netflix subscribers took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to call out the streaming platform for raising its subscription rates. The new prices have come after subscribers were hit with another major price increase in October 2023.
The price of Netflix’s Standard plan has risen to $17.99 per month, which is an increase of $2.50 from the previous rate of $15.49. The price of the ad-supported tier has gone up by $1 to $7.99 per month. Previously, it cost $6.99 per month.
Netflix’s Premium plan, on the other hand, will see an increase of $2, taking its price from $22.99 to $24.99 per month. To add an extra member to their primary account, users will now have to pay $8.99 per month rather than $7.99.
These price changes have angered many social media users online.
One subscriber posted that they don’t wish to continue streaming on Netflix and wrote, “I’ve gone through way too many Netflix price increases now, all they do is cancel good shows, where is my money going fr.”
In another tweet, a second user criticized the streaming giant and wrote, “Netflix… you are really not worth the price increase…”
A third user expressed their frustration posting that they were now considering ending their subscription.
Furthermore, a user named Monica on X revealed she is “very very close to unsubscribing.”
One user on X used a simple “Nope” meme to react to the price increase of the Premium plan.
