According to the latest speculation, Marvel Studios is seemingly planning to make a Deadpool & Wolverine trilogy with Hugh Jackman as the claw-bearing superhero. 2024’s Deadpool 3 not only served as the Merc with a Mouth’s entry into the MCU but also fetched Disney a gargantuan amount of money on its way to becoming the highest-grossing R-rated flick of all time. As such, there have been talks surrounding the duo’s return, without anything materializing. However, per a recent rumor, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman might have a significant role to play in the MCU’s future after all.
Hugh Jackman might be in at least two more Deadpool & Wolverine films
As conveyed by the renowned internet scooper, MyTimeToShineHello, fans could expect two more Deadpool & Wolverine titles to come out in the MCU slate. Moreover, the studio is reportedly eyeing to extend Jackman’s take on the iconic mutant by another decade.
In their latest update on X(formerly Twitter), MyTimeToShineHello noted, “Hugh Jackman not even close to being done as he plans to play Wolverine for at least 10 more years! Marvel wants a Deadpool & Wolverine trilogy.”
Deadpool 3, AKA Deadpool & Wolverine rolled into theatres in July 2024 and quickly garnered immense praise and love from audiences due to its quippy narrative and well-placed cameos from legacy characters. Consequently, the film concluded its theatrical run, having amassed a mouth-watering $1.3 billion at the global box office, per Box Office Mojo.
At the time of writing, Marvel Studios has yet to shed light on the next big-screen appearance of Deadpool and Wolverine. Nevertheless, current dynamics seem to hint that the two mutants will play a part in 2026’s much-awaited Avengers: Doomsday. Once again, every update regarding Jackman and Reynolds’ future in the franchise remains mere speculation at the moment.
Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday is currently on track to hit the theatres on May 1, 2026.
