According to a recent rumor, Doctor Strange 3 and Shang-Chi 2 have finally received updates regarding their filming schedule. While fans have waited for a prolonged period for updates on the two movies’ sequels, they finally seem to have been provided with something to look forward to. Moreover, the said speculation seems to indicate that Doctor Strange 3 and Shang-Chi 2 may have their release dates scheduled in 2027.

Shang-Chi 2 and Doctor Strange 3 won’t start filming until 2026

As per Daniel Richtman’s recent update, the two films are expected to begin filming sometime in 2026.

In his latest Patreon post, the renowned internet scooper stated, “I hear Doctor Strange 3 and Shang-Chi 2 not filming till 2026.” However, Richtman failed to shed light on whether director Destin Daniel Cretton would begin work on Shangi-Chi right after completing Spider-Man 4. Additionally, no official word regarding the two sequels’ premiere has come from Marvel Studios as of yet.

Fans last witnessed Benedict Cumberbatch’s heroic wizard on the big screens in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While his appearance in Doctor Strange 3 remains uncertain currently, the actor has confirmed that he will reprise his role of Stephen Strange in Avengers: Doomsday.

In an earlier interview, the BAFTA recipient stated, “I’m really excited not only to work with the Russo brothers again but also to have Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom. I think there’s going to be some really cool developments ahead, and I’m excited to see what happens next.”

On the other hand, Simu Liu last stepped into the shoes of Shaun back in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021. Similar to Cumberbatch, he also conveyed in a past discussion that Shang-Chi 2 is “definitely happening.” However, Liu also maintained the reigning uncertainty regarding when fans could expect the much-awaited sequel, noting, “A lot of it is above my pay grade.”
